About Buyback Tracker

Data last refreshed Oct 23, 2026.

Buyback Tracker shows how much every S&P 500 company spends buying back its own stock, whether that actually shrinks its share count, and which companies have just approved new buyback programs. It exists because this information is public but scattered across thousands of SEC filings, and most summaries stop at the headline dollar figure.

Independence

Buyback Tracker is an independent site. We are not a broker, investment adviser or bank, and we are not paid by any company we cover. There are no ads, sponsored placements or affiliate links on the site.

Where the numbers come from

  • Company financials come from each company’s own 10-K and 10-Q filings, read from the SEC’s public EDGAR data.
  • New buyback programs come from 8-K filings and the press releases attached to them. We quote the company’s own sentence and link to the filing.
  • The company list is the current S&P 500, matched to each company’s SEC filer ID.

Every figure on a company page links back to the filing it came from. The methodology explains each calculation: how quarters are worked out, how stock splits are handled, and what “net of stock pay” means.

How often it updates

Twice a day. Each run checks every company for a new 10-K or 10-Q, scans recent 8-K filings for new buyback programs, and rebuilds the site. A company’s page usually reflects a new quarterly report within a day of the SEC making its data available.

Corrections

Companies sometimes restate figures or tag them unusually, and our calculations can be wrong. If you spot an error, use the feedback button or email legal@algothesis.ai with the page and what looks off. We check it against the filing and fix it.

Not investment advice

Buyback Tracker reports what companies have filed. It does not recommend buying or selling anything. See the terms for details.
